Airhux Travel API: Flight Content, Booking and Servicing for Travel Businesses

By Airhux Technology · October 23, 2026 · 6 min read · 2 views

Most travel APIs are judged on search: how fast results come back and how many airlines they cover. Search matters, but it is the easy part. The real test of a travel API comes after the customer has paid: the ticket that fails to issue, the traveler who wants a different date, the airline that moves a flight by six hours, the refund that has to go back through the airline before the customer sees a cent.

The Airhux Travel API is built around that whole lifecycle. This article explains what it covers, how it works, and who it is for.

What the Airhux Travel API Is

The Airhux Travel API is the flight engine behind the Airhux Travel SaaS Platform, offered to partners who want to build their own experience on top of it. It gives you:

  • Flight content from the GDS and from airline NDC channels, normalized into one format.
  • Pricing you can trust, with repricing before booking and a clear breakdown of fare, taxes and extras.
  • Booking and ticketing with protection against double bookings and unknown outcomes.
  • Servicing after the sale: voids, cancellations, refunds, date changes and schedule changes, each with a defined process.
  • Your own commercial rules: markups, fees and channels for customers, agents and business clients.

Partners get API access after approval, with keys tied to their own account so every booking stays inside their tenant.

Search Across GDS and NDC

Airhux searches GDS and NDC content and returns one list of offers in one structure, so your front end does not need two code paths.

  • One-way, return and multi-city searches.
  • All cabins, with branded fares where the airline offers them.
  • Clear fare tags for bags, changes and refunds, so customers compare like with like.
  • Fast repeat searches on popular routes through a short shared cache, with a per-user session that keeps offer identifiers valid for booking.

Fares your office cannot actually ticket are filtered out before the customer sees them. A cheap fare that fails at ticketing after the customer has paid is worse than no fare at all.

Pricing, Repricing and Price Protection

The price in search is a starting point. Before booking, Airhux reprices the chosen offer with the airline and holds the confirmed price for checkout.

  • If the price changes, the customer is told and asked to accept, never charged silently.
  • Taxes and airline fees are shown separately from seats and bags.
  • Your markup and fees are applied after the supplier price, and the supplier net price is never exposed in public responses.

Booking and Ticketing Without Surprises

Booking is where money and airline records meet, so the order of operations matters.

  1. The payment is authorized, not captured.
  2. The booking is created with the airline once, under a lease that blocks a second confirm.
  3. The payment is captured only after the airline confirms.

When the airline clearly refuses, the money is released. When the outcome is unknown, such as a timeout at the moment of booking, Airhux does not guess and does not retry blindly. The money stays on hold, the booking is flagged for a person, and it appears on an action list until someone confirms it against the airline record or releases the payment.

Tickets that fail to issue are retried and alerted, so a paid traveler is not left without a ticket.

Servicing: Where Airhux Is Different

Servicing is the part of flight distribution that many platforms leave to email and spreadsheets. Airhux treats every servicing request as a tracked case with a screen, an owner and a timeline.

Void

Within the void window, a ticketed booking can be voided. Airhux checks the ticket's status with the airline before returning the customer's money, so a refund is never paid while the ticket is still active.

Cancellation

Customers and agents can cancel or request cancellation of their own bookings. Unticketed bookings are cancelled directly. Ticketed bookings become cancellation requests that staff review, with the fare rules and penalties visible.

Refunds

Refunds have two sides, and Airhux handles both:

  • The airline side: the ticket is refunded with the airline through the GDS refund process, with the penalty applied and the refund total confirmed by a person before it is processed.
  • The customer side: a refund quote is prepared, approved and paid back the way the customer paid, card or wallet.

The customer refund waits until the airline side is done, so you never pay out money the airline will not return.

Date Changes and Reissue

A traveler who wants another date picks a new flight and sees the difference to pay, plus your change fee. They pay online, the request goes to the servicing desk, the change is made with the airline, and the itinerary and tickets are updated. Until it is confirmed, the traveler is told "request received", never "your date has been changed".

Schedule Changes

Airlines change schedules all the time. Airhux reads the airline queues in the background, raises each change once, records it on the booking timeline and puts it on the action list so your team can contact the traveler and apply it.

Built for Multi-Tenant Travel Businesses

The Airhux Travel API was built for businesses that run more than one channel.

  • Tenant isolation: each partner's bookings, customers and settings stay inside their own account.
  • Channels: B2C customers, B2B agents and corporate clients, each with their own prices and permissions.
  • Wallets: agents and customers can pay from a wallet, and partner settlement runs through a wallet ledger.
  • Roles: who can void, cancel, refund or set fees is defined per role, so an agent only services their own bookings.

Beyond Flights

The same platform also covers car rental, airport transfers, bus tickets, tours and visas, so a partner can grow from flights into a full travel offer without changing provider.

Who the Airhux Travel API Is For

  • Online travel agencies that want their own website or app on top of reliable flight content.
  • B2B travel companies that serve sub-agents and need wallets, markups and per-agent access.
  • Startups and software teams adding flights to a broader product.
  • Agencies leaving manual GDS work that want servicing handled in screens instead of cryptic commands.

If you would rather not build a front end at all, the same engine powers the white-label platform. See our white label travel booking platform guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Airhux Travel API include NDC content?

Yes. Airhux combines GDS and airline NDC content in one response format. Some servicing actions work differently on NDC because the airline issues the ticket, and Airhux follows each channel's rules.

Can I service bookings, or only make them?

You can service them. Voids, cancellations, refunds, date changes and schedule changes all have a defined flow in the platform, with a person confirming the steps that move money at the airline.

Do I need my own IATA accreditation?

Not necessarily. Talk to us about your setup and markets, and we will explain the options for ticketing and settlement.

How do I get access?

API access is approved per partner. Start your project and tell us what you are building.
